Green Tape

(Previously - eTender)

  • Project - Online Procurement System

  • Project Type - New project

  • Duration - 11 months

  • Platforms - Web (desktop and mobile)

  • Role - UI/UX Designer & UX Researcher

Green Tape, previously known as e-Tender, is a digital procurement platform. The project was designed to transform the offline procurement system used by public and private organizations in Sri Lanka by connecting buyers and suppliers through a virtual platform.

The team, including the product owner and the investors, had a clear vision of the execution of the project.

Nevertheless, clients were a little reluctant to replace the traditional procurement system with a digital platform. The reluctance from clients challenged us to convince the clients of our platform's functionality as a one-stop solution that can handle nearly all their requirements.

As the UI/UX designer, I created a team to support my research to identify the different types of procurement procedures, commonalities and differences between procurement processes.

Data and information were gathered through in-depth interviews and surveys. Numerous interviews were conducted with a selected set of potential clients from different sectors and segments in the public and private sectors. The surveys helped me gather quantitative data.

The user group of my design were corporates who are between the age of 35 - 55. Factoring in their preferences, I created a user-centric design with a professional, clean and clear outlook.

I conducted concept testing (usability test) with a mock application during each phase in the development process to identify potential drawbacks of the design. After the first iteration of the design, I ran a selected set of real-world cases to determine if the design is capable of handling different requirements before passing it onto the QA.
