The client, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) is a Government organization working directly with local and international clientele who are interested in investing in tourism-related projects in Sri Lanka. The client’s requirement was a web application (compatible with mobile) that can be used to automate and speed up investor onboarding and management.

The previous procedure of onboarding an interested party was a tedious, long, manual and offline process that starts by filling a 30-page-long common application form. Once a case was open (successful onboarding), the entire case management was done manually via physical documents. As this process involves many personnel and different other Government organizations, it was indeed a time-consuming process.

My solution is an application (platform) that fully integrates the existing procedure with separate ends for both investors and SLTDA officers. The application was entirely cloud-based and designed to be fully responsive.

After carefully analysing the 30-page common application form which investors have to fill out to start the process, I figured out that it can be broken down into two main sections and shorten to twelve pages in total.

As this is a lengthy form requiring numerous information, I designed the application to be traversable between each main and subsections. The user can start filling the form, from any point with whatever information available at the time, save the progress and resume. A progress indicator provides an overall completion of the form. A help section is available throughout the process, which is accessible as a pop-up without directing the user away from the form.

During the onboarding process, a user account is being created for each investor. On the investor dashboard, the user is provided information about the ongoing case(s) and their activities. Any pending or overdue activities are highlighted to take immediate action.

On the other end, SLTDA officers get their user accounts where they manage cases assigned to them. This end includes the entire process of handling a case until it is completed or closed.

The dashboard for SLTDA officers (IRU officers) includes an overall view of their ongoing cases. Similar to the investors, the IRU officers get their pending activities. Apart from activities, the dashboard includes a snapshot of each case and all cases categorized by their stage.

According to the client’s requirement, there are six stages for cases and the stages are the most important metric for them. Considering this, I have given priority to stages when viewing cases and individual cases. The cases screen have the options to filter and sort by the stage, status, etc.

A single case screen presents a clear view of all the information and data submitted by the investor, categorized into eight sections. It also shows the progress of the case through each stage and allows the user to perform multiple actions related to the case such as re-assigning, completing a task, hold the case etc.

The entire design is based on brand guidelines (including colours and fonts) provided by the client.
